Bio

In my second year of undergraduate studies at UMass Dartmouth I took an elective course in photography. I had no intention of pursuing photography at that time, I merely wanted to understand the basics of how to operate the second hand camera that I owned. An unexpected outcome, however, happened along the way to understanding basic photography. I looked through the viewfinder and found it was like looking through a window into another world. I discovered that I could use the camera and the limitations it imposed along with weather and environment to simplify the world around me. More importantly I was able to create something that invoked a feeling, which was a very powerful thing. If something I saw stopped me, made me pause, I would photograph it. My thinking was really just a simple question; if what I saw was interesting then how could I create something that would describe what I felt about it to others?

My work is a constant struggle to try and answer that question -
